Some people might believe that the world is turning out to be a better place. But the bottom line is, it is not. With the innovation in technology and great world super powers, times have changed. It is no longer the era where kids would happily go out to play with their friends and make mud pies. It is no longer the era in which the kids were in their purest form. It is the time where the innocence is slowly and steadily being wiped of their faces, in order to reveal the ugliness that lies underneath.
According to E.F. Schumacher, he states that:
“Call a thing immoral or ugly, soul-destroying or degradation to man, a peril to the peace of the world or to the well-being of future generations: as long as you have not shown it to be “uneconomic” you have not really questioned its right to exist, grow, and prosper.”
Immoral Generations Role:
In the Past:
In the past, kids were obedient, they were sincere and honest. They were little angels taking their steps into the world and doing their best to make the world a better place. They could never even think about talking back to their parents. They were kind to others. They were hard working. They were filled with creativity. They could come up with the most stupendous stories. They had wide imagination. They were very bright. They were strong, physically as well as mentally.
It was Roh Moo-Hyun who hoped that:
“Let us make future generations remember us as proud ancestors just as, today, we remember our forefathers”.
In the Modern World:
In the modern era, this is no longer the case. The once aw so innocent children are now devious little brats. The modern time is rule by technology and science, and every child seen today holds either an IPhone, and android or a PlayStation controller in their hands. They are no longer as creative as they used to be. Today, they are more exposed to violence then to innocence. They have started talking back to their parents. Even using foul language against them. It seems as though all the limitations that once used to be a child’s boundary, which he never would even think of crossing, has been crossed without any second thoughts.
Shape of New Generation:
A new era has arrived. Where parents are left to old houses, their children never visiting them until their funeral, and at times not even then. The world has sped up, day in day out man is working. He has no time to visit his family. He values his money over them. Man craves power now, he craves wealth. He wants the biggest house, the newest car model, and branded items. His mind has been polluted. He does not give a second thought to help anyone who is of no benefit to him. The friends they make are only friends with benefits. They have forgotten their real purpose. They do not have time for the people who are truly concerned for them.
It was wisely said by D.H. Lawrence:
“Men fight for liberty and win it with hard knocks. Their children, brought up easy, let it slip away again, poor fools. And their grandchildren are once more slaves”.
Conclusion:
In the end, there is a great difference between the people of today and the people from the past. The people of today forcing laughter and faking smiles. Trying to fit into society even if that means they have to sacrifice their moral ethics. They endeavor, but do it in the wrong place. They are the most immoral generation to exist on this planet. Even during the days of ignorance, the illiterate has more manners then the people of today, who are nothing but deceivers and liars.
It is as Friedrich August Von Hayek said:
“The younger generation of today has grown up in the world in which in school and press the spirit of commercial enterprise has been represented as disreputable and the making of profit as immoral, where to employ a hundred people is represented as exploitation but to command the same number as honorable”.
