...And Democrats (Republican Light). If you haven't guessed already, I am a Progressive.

I apologize in advance to anyone not from the US who doesn't understand our political system. Please feel free to leave comments below and I will answer your questions to the best of my ability. As a Political Science major and someone who has followed politics closely and in depth for a long time, I was sent this little back and forth that I found interesting.
Me: "Hello. I would like people to stop being shot. Can we have gun control?"
Republicans: "No, this is a mental health issue."
(Via United Liberty)
Me: "Oh, Ok. Can we have access to mental health care?"
Republicans: "No, health care is a privilege, not a right."
(Via MedScape)
Me: "OK. Can we raise the stagnating wage so I can have the ability to buy health care?"
Republicans: "No, below poverty wages are necessary to stabilize business."
(Via Nomadic Politics)
Me: "Ok, can I have a tax break that cuts my taxes so I'll have more money to buy health insurance?"
Republicans: "No, we need to give all the tax breaks to the top so they'll provide jobs that you'll earn money at which will then pay for their tax breaks."
(Via Nevada News)
Me: "Ok. Can we have a public option to at least make health insurance companies compete and lower the cost of care?"
Republicans: "No, Hitler was a socialist."
(Delaware United)
Me: "Ok. Well what can I have?"
Republicans: "Here's a prayer."

As you can see by this exchange which has appeared in one form or another - the political establishment has done very little by way of taking care of this country. We have lost our way in a lot of respects and there is a palatable anger that brought in the current crappy administration. People are pissed and with good reason. We are one of the greatest countries in the World, but we sure aren't acting like it.
For all our friends Worldwide, just know we are working hard to right the ship.
"Look at the facts of the world. You see a continual and progressive triumph of the right. I do not pretend to understand the moral universe, the arc is a long one, my eye reaches but little ways. I cannot calculate the curve and complete the figure by the experience of sight; I can divine it by conscience. But from what I see I am sure it bends towards justice."
