Recently I haven't written as much, that's because I've been partying. First there was a friends birthday so we went to a movie themed pub that also hosts an escape room. Didn't go as I went before, still waiting for them to finish the other room their working on, and it sounds promising.
Herastrau Park overview
During the weekend Bucharest hosted a small festival in Herastrau Park. Here is a link to several map services to look at it. It hosts a large park build around a lake. You can rent boats and water bikes to hang out in the lake. There are also larger boats that tour the lake which also host small bars. The entrance in the park reminds me of a greek agora, with a fountain greeting you, then a pathway with columns on either side.
Inside you can also find a japanese garden, some statues commemorating romanian personalities, restaurants, an open air museum that recreates typical village life in the countryside with typical 1800s activities portrayed. There are also bike paths and generally common sights you find in parks, along with the largest brewery in eastern Europe. It is called Beraria H(H Brewery, in english) and me and my friends had a few beers there after the concerts I will shortly outline later; below is a pic of a typical day in that pub.
Friday, first festival day
Now on with the festival. It had multiple stages set up where you could enjoy your favourite music. Of course there were buy drinks and foods just as any festival. On Friday, the main event was a band called Subcarpati(Subcarpathians), named after the hillsides of the same name bordering the Carpathian mountain range in Romania. They're an odd band that bridges the gap between folk, dubstep and rap, influenced by all sorts of music genres. Here's a clip filmed by , as he was with me at the festival.
If you are interested, you can check out Subcarpati at their Youtube page as they put out all their content up for free as far as I know. Check them out!
Saturday, the second festival day
The next day we went back to the park for some more music. This time it was Morcheeba, apparently a favourite of , so I guess this is a good time to gloat over this to him (hehe, hi mate :p ). The atmosphere was really cool and I really enjoyed the music. Unfortunately I don't have long enough footage to be worth posting. Instead I give you an image album to try to make up for it. Sorry for the quality, they're made with my friend's phone (mine is just awful), and they played later than Subcarpati did the previous day. If you wish to check them out, I suggest you do so. Here is their official website
