In many schools these days, one of the benefits is a rudimentary vision check. I thought that if there was no issue, my son's vision must be just fine. I realized that no one from the school ever contacted me to say that my son's vision needed further checking and that is when I figured out that it is best to have a vision check by an optometrist rather than depend on the school.
I realized to never rely on your child by asking them if their vision has changed because in my experience the answer is always no because the changes are often subtle. My son's coach mentioned that he throwing is not accurate and then I scheduled an appointment and it turns out that his vision has changed significantly! Look for clues and sometimes those clues are from folks who care outside the home.
I asked the optician to expedite the new lens because my son has a tournament coming up so hopefully, they will arrive soon so that my son has the gift of 20/20!
