March 20
is celebrated every year as International Day of Happiness. It was celebrated for the first time on March 20, 2013 and has been celebrated since.
The reason for the celebration is quite obvious – to create awareness of happiness around the world.
Happiness is fundamental to humanity. We all need to be happy. It is a sign of well-being. Truth is, it should not have been difficult to be happy. However, humanity struggles to have happiness. Ask people if they are happy, and they will tell you emphatically that they are not. Even those who give the brightest of smiles in front of cameras are the unhappiest.
Moreover, if the number of suicidal acts and tendencies are anything to go by, then the conclusion can be made…
Mankind is not happy.
There are many contributing factors to mankind's lack of happiness. Terrorism, crime and violence are rampant, natural disasters abound, diseases and death are inevitable, economic hardship is a canker, just to mention a few.
"Let's make the world a better place" is a song that has been sung for decades. Yet still mankind continues to wobble in woes.
Celebrating World's Happiness Day is not enough to, perhaps will not even, bring us happiness.
There must be something, something we need to do.
What do you think the human race have to do in order to be happy?
I'll be happy to receive your comment....let's interact.
