The 4th of July traditionally is a pretty big event for my family. We usually all have the day off and relatives I don't see often come by to eat and spend time together. Planning this year has been difficult because for reasons unknown to me, most of us are required to work today. It is odd and I miss seeing everyone but I am thankful that we are gainfully employed.
I also think about those whose sacrifice makes it possible to enjoy the freedom we have. I do not feel we are as free as we once were perhaps, but I can't think of anywhere else I would rather be.
