Hello great people! In one of my recent posts, I talked about the inevitability of death. In that post, I clearly explained the debt we all owe nature and a price we must pay.
Beyond the idea of death some people actually crave for immortality. I have watched films, mostly Chinese films about drinking an elixir. These films actually got me wondering whether there can be such a thing that we could drink and live forever.
No doubt, the Chinese people love vegetables and they live very long. This actually contributed to my initial belief on the idea of an elixir! Do yo think there is anything like that?
Well, beyond the idea of a drink we can take to live long or never die, there are many ways we can be immortalized. It is down to how we actually choose to live now. There is this idea here in Africa that those who do good die quickly while those who do bad live longer.
Now, I don’t know why it is so and it is possible to deny such belief as mere superstition. But the way things are in this part of the world, it appears they are ‘right’. There are many ‘good’ people that have others at heart and are ready to help others but these people seem to die when you need them most and those ‘wicked’ ones stay for a very long time.
Perhaps, we can say they live longer because God gives them a second, third or fourth chance to correct their wrongs. In the process of these unending chances, these people do more bad than good and many people suffer more.
What am I trying to say? My point is, this idea tend to suggest that by doing bad or evil, you have the chance of living longer and by doing good, you get killed on time or die sooner. This, perhaps, also explains why many good people get killed, imprisoned, or died ‘untimely’ death.
Despite the above, a more prosperous and humane life should be embraced ahead of a bad one. We can actually live an immortal ‘life’. As human beings, we find it noble to remember our heroes and heroines. We see it as our job to make sure the upcoming generations hear about their noble acts and are inspired by what they did for all of us.
So you can live an immortal life in the heart of many generations. Your statue needs not be mounted on the street or any park before you are immortalized. The moment you do good things, love humanity, uphold good moral standards, people will always remember you. That way, you live very long than your physical existence.
Life is truly short, what you do now while you are alive will be remembered for a very long time whether good or bad. Why not do the good and be used as a good example to younger generations. Be immortalized for doing good!
