Norovirus, otherwise known as the winter vomiting virus, is having it's way around here. Thursday, the day of our children's parent-teacher conferences, there were 7 kids who stayed home in our son's class and 5 who stayed home in our daughter's class. I also found out that norovirus can stay alive on surfaces for weeks!

The first one to get sick was Chloe, but after she recovered, we thought we were safe, because everyone else was still fine, and I disinfected all the common surfaces. Well we were wrong!!
Last night our daughter, Naomi, came into our bed while we were sleeping, as she often does. I woke up to retching noises behind my head. In a panic I yelled, "Noooo!" and jumped out of bed just in time for Naomi to throw up all over my pillow. I rushed her to the bathroom, but she continued to throw up on the computer case that we got with a laptop for virtual school, and all over the floor in the bedroom on the way. I shut and locked the door so no one else would come in there until morning. I took her out to the living room and put a show on for her and gave her an anti-nausea pill. Luckily we have a bunch left over from when they all got the flu last year!!
A couple hours later, I heard our 4 year old Priscilla crying. She had thrown up all over her bed. I took her out to the living room as well, gave her an anti-nausea pill, and switched on her favorite show. She fell back asleep and Jared and I went back to sleep in a spare twin bed.
Then this morning it hit our 2 year old Sophia. I'm really proud of her because she actually knew to throw up in the waste basket!! But then she wiped the throw up off of her face with her hand and wiped it on the carpet, so the pride I felt didn't last very long. 😂
When we opened our bedroom door the smell of vomit wafted out and it made me almost vomit too, so I wore a mask. It really helped. Time to break out the cleaning supplies! Yes, we are Biohazard Team Schelvan!! Ready to clean up whatever life throws up at us!!!
I might not be on Steemit much this weekend because of all this, especially if I get sick too, but that's okay. My voting power needs some time to go up anyway. :)
Love, snowpea ❤😘🙂🌸
