The great gun debate: Where do you stand?
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia "Second Amendment"
The Second Amendment (Amendment II) to the United States Constitution protects the right of the people to keep and bear arms and was adopted on December 15, 1791, as part of the first ten amendments contained in the Bill of Rights. The Supreme Court of the United States has ruled that the right belongs to individuals, while also ruling that the right is not unlimited and does not prohibit all regulation of either firearms or similar devices. State and local governments are limited to the same extent as the federal government from infringing this right, per the incorporation of the Bill of Rights.
The Second Amendment was based partially on the right to keep and bear arms in English common law and was influenced by the English Bill of Rights of 1689. Sir William Blackstone described this right as an auxiliary right, supporting the natural rights of self-defense and resistance to oppression, and the civic duty to act in concert in defense of the state.
Do you believe that the government should have the right to take guns away from the citizens? Do you think that in doing this, crime would go down?
My opinion
It is my opinion that taking guns away from the masses would cause more crime than if they just left it alone. Taking everyone's gun means that every honest person would be unarmed, and the only people that would be armed would be the criminals.
I think that the United states should allow any one that has not been convicted of a violent crime, and is over the age of 18, to carry a concealed weapon. Currently there are 14 states that allow concealed carry. This would lower crime all around.
Imagine you are a criminal and you want to rob a lady of her purse. You would think twice if you thought that she had a gun on her hip.
I personally think that teachers should also be allowed to carry. Maby if teachers carried weopons, less children would be killed or injured in school shootings.
The Lie
The most publicized school shooting in the last couple of years has been Columbine. The perpetrators, senior students Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, murdered 12 students and one teacher. They injured 21 additional people, and three more were injured while attempting to escape the school. After exchanging gunfire with responding police officers, the pair subsequently committed suicide
Although being a very sad day, it hasn't been the first school shooting. The news and the government want to use this as a ploy for gun control. They want you to think that if proper gun laws were in place, this kind of thing would not had happened. I completely disagree. It would have happen no matter what.
They also want you to think that only recently people are going into schools and killing fellow students.Although Columbine was one one of the deadliest, it was not the first.

As you can see, its not a product of the newer generation. These shootings would have happened weather or not guns were illegal or not. A criminal will always find a way. Making guns illegal only keeps honest people from getting them. Just as a lock only keeps honest people out.
Where do you stand? Do you think that guns need to be illegal? I personally think not. Let me know in the comments, and thank you for visiting!
