Thanks everyone for the bday wishes!! My day was great. We ended up going for a family walk and then I went out to dinner with my friends.
Let me tell you what my dear hubby did for me:
First of all, he baked me a cake, which was my favorite flavor (funfetti vanilla!), so that was pretty perfect. I was so excited to dive into that delicious cake! That's when he realized it was time to hand out cards, so he pulled out his bag from the grocery store with the blank card inside, receipt and all. I looked at the bag, handed it back to him and said "I'm going to leave the room and you are going to write in it, okay?" and this is what he wrote, LOL:
"lets eat cake!"
That's it. No sweet sentimental words of love and affection. Just a straight forward "lets eat cake" from a man that apparently loves cake. LOL.
Really, all I can do is laugh and be happy that he even got me a card!
This actually reminds me of the time that I told him to "woo" me more and he looked me right in the face and said "woo". No enthusiasm, just deadpan "woo". He is such a deep deep man.
....anyway....
I got a couple gifts, including a speedlight for my camera (woohoo), beautiful roses and perfumes with a wonderful scent!. My hubby's gift was cleaning the entire house for the arrival of guests. Kate gifted me with sleeping in till 10 am on Saturday. Now that was seriously the greatest gift EVAH!
What else? Oh yes, my gift to myself was a new lens. Specifically the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 that got delivered last week. I'm slimming down my lenses. I don't need quantity, I need quality. Repeat that people. Don't do what I did and buy several $200 lenses, instead save up for a really good lens and use it for a long time. The Tamron is more like a budget friendly standard range zoom lens. Much more affordable than the Nikon version, but not cheap by my standards. Unfortunately that rounds out my "affordable" quality lens collection (the Nikkor 50mm f/1.4, the Tamron 90mm f/2.8 macro and this new lens, the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8). My next lens is going to be the big hunky, dreamy, creamy, sexy, huge, beastly, amazing, Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8. ::drool:: and it runs for over $2K!!?!!?!!! eeeeek. The cheapo in me about died when I typed that. Photography is so freaking expensive. What in the hell did I get myself in to? I can't stop now either, I am just in LOVE with this hobby. I am obsessed with this hobby. What most people don't know is that I actually fund my own hobby. I'm not going to really talk about that now (or ever), but in order to not feel guilty about spending obscene amounts of cash, I started making my own cash and saving my own cash. Now I am able to have guilt free spending. And no, I'm not standing on the streetcorner stripping, or anything illegal, LOL!! I'm just a good saver :)
My baby also received a box of gifts) Most of all I like to choose and buy toys) So. it was a gift for us both :)
And this is a gift from my dog :)
So what else can I ramble about? OH YEAH!! We went on a date!! A date!! A date!!!
What a glorious thing to say!! We went out together on Friday night. it was fun. It was spontaneous. It was a little dangerous. Ahhh date nights are the best. Must do more of those ASAP.
So that was my birthday! Fun times had by all!!
So I'll end this post with a story of a dashingly handsome man. The guy that I love and adore, who I think is both charming and annoying at times. Who always tells me to go to bed and then wakes me up way too early with a pot of coffee. Who would lose his keys/wallet/left arm if I wasn't around to remind him where he put them. Who laughing at my horrible impressions (because I do a lot of impressions). Who will frolick with me in the rain and then tell me that I might be insane. Who kicks my ass into gear, particularly business related. Who tells me that I can do anything. Then reminds me that I can't cook. Who tells me he hates to dance, but will dance with me anyway. Who gets excited about new light fixtures for our house. Who laughs when I'm mean or irritated. Who teases me for the fun of it. Who refers to my parents as "mom and dad", because its natural to him.Yep, he's the best. I <3 my hubby.
