Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Have you found it more difficult to follow your routine on the weekends?
This weekend my relatives came to the farm. I love having company for the weekend, especially having my grandchild to play with and spoil. I do not like anyone to watch me do my exercise routines, so I just don’t do them if someone is around. I knew it would be difficult to follow my regular diet plan also.
Ok, here is what I did to make it a fun weekend, and not feel like I was blowing my diet…or making unhealthy choices. Playing with my grandchildren turned into my workouts…I would lift my granddaughter up from the floor to over my head…in sets of 6….she weighs about 12 lbs. I would do squats holding her straight out in front of me, and twist from side to side….she made me smile and laugh the whole time. I had floor time with her….oh what fun! We all took a trip….lots of good walking! I shared with my son the routine I do with my arms to get rid of the loose fat hanging down. (Dr. Oz calls bat wings) My granddaughter thinks this is a game I was playing with hime ! First, you roll the dough roll the dough 30 seconds in one direction then reverse— Second…bend your arms like chicken wings–flap flap swing back, flap flap swing back…oh she thought this was hilarious! Third….then put your arms out like you are encouraging the croud to all stand up..palms up…of course you can be silly and sing as you twirl around–let’s all stand up and shout….stand up…stand up….stand up everyone….repeat ahhh for a minute or so….then put both arms straight out from your sides and flap like a bird….you could trot around and pretend you are flying…..very entertaining for grandchildren….they don’t know you are really working out and they can join in making up silly songs as you go!
Meal time was another challenge. I wanted to cook healthy meals–it is so different cooking for others than yourself. I am happy with oatmeal in the morning, but I made a vegetable egg omelet for my daughter and me. I cook with olive oil on a stove top griddle. It was quick and easy….oh so good! My son wanted it with dried, minced onions, put an orange slice on top, and baked in the oven on 350 degrees for 40 minutes. He served it over a bed of rice with stir fry vegetables. This was soooooo tasty!
I am enjoying leftovers for my school lunch today and probably tomorrow!
The best part is when I weighed on my Wii Monday morning….lost .5lbs over the weekend. I can handle this!
