Today I want us to look into environmental protection.
Environmental Protection : Is the protection and conservation of existing resources. It is the act of ensuring that air quality, water/groundwater quality, soil quality, noise, heat, light, vegetation, wild life etc are conserved.
WHY PROCTECT OUR ENVIRONMENT?
some conditions in our environment are harmful to human health if one is exposed to them. We are going to discuss those conditions, the risk and effect.
EXCESSIVE NOISE
Noisy work place from generator, music shop, busy airport and churches. Churches has turn to be the chief agent of noise making, if you live close to church you will understand what I mean. This excessive noise may cause deafness, annoyance, irritations, sleeplessness etc.
RADIANT ENERGY
people who work close to furnace, open flames or continuous direct sunlight experience a lot of health issues like Dehydration, sweating, dilation of blood, migraine, skin/ cell damage and high baby temperature.
LOW TEMPERATURE
High temperature could be a problem as well as low temperature, people that work in cold climatic condition, cold rooms, frozen water could experience so health issues like neumonia, coma, stroke, low reflex action etc
RADIATION
What I mean by radiation here includes using radiation as a means of diagnosis or cure like X-ray. Another radiation that can affect us is radiation from nuclear weapon testing and X-ray's from black and white television. How can they affect us? They can damage the cells of living tissues, deformities, sterility, skin cancer. etc.
DUMP OF CHEMICAL WASTE
Many companies dump their chemical waste indiscriminate, some channel theirs to river and ocean. All this have bad effect on human life.
E.g They can cause respiratory disorder, irritation of skin, choking, lung diseases etc.
All this stated above has become challenging to human life. To tackle this menace we need to apply what is called sustainable development.
SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
This are measure we can apply to stop or manage hazards. What are those measure, I want to mention but few
- Effective waste management system
- Afforestation
- Pollution control
- Conservation of natural resources
- Proper environmental Management plan
This will lead us to know how to manage or control hazard (waste). In my next article I will discuss that.
