Hurricane week and after wound us up tight .
We all needed to just get out
Time for some drinks .
For the past two weeks I've been stressed out beyond belief. With the whole preparing for the hurricane thing, and then the aftermath of finally being able to sleep because the worry is gone, but yet still feeling drained, I found myself stressed. Yesterday I was asked to go for a night out with some ladies, who are also my neighbors, and a couple even I consider friends. I was dragging my feet all day. I felt exhausted, I didn't feel like going out with at least one of the girls I don't really like that much, I didn't feel like dressing up or even getting out of the house, and of course I was very anxious to get my new computer I had been waiting for that got delayed by the hurricane.
I knew by like 6pm that I probably needed to go out, especially since I was so toughly dragging my feet. After some great tips from my husband who just suggested that if I decided to go out then to go out and be fully present, don't think about the fact I don't like someone, or think about the fact of what I could be doing at home on my new computer. If I chose to stay home then own that too and don't think about what you are missing by not going, or if the other woman will end up getting to know people better because you aren't there, or anything of that sort. So, I messaged one of the ladies who had planned it and said "Ok. I'm in".
We headed to downtown Tampa area near the water to a nice restaurant. It was actually a restaurant on my list of places to go so that was pretty nice. We got a drive down from her husband who drove 5 of us ladies, since we had a nice cocktail before leaving her house and we knew we might have a few more.
We arrived
It was very interesting. We were a bit early for our reservation and not to mention they were a bit behind, so we grabbed a drink. The decor outdoors was very interesting. They were in an old brick building that apparently was some type of police station way back when, or so we were told. The exterior grounds seemed to follow a story book theme. There were 3 pigs and a house.
Then Jack and his bean stock.
The entrance was interesting in it's own regard.
The show stopper for me was this beautiful scultpure of a girl or woman surrounding by fire.
When we finally got seated the table was nicely set.
We order two bottles of red wine and ordered dinner.
I got some mahi mahi as it is my favorite fish. The Mahi was cooked perfectly where it was so tender. The peaches on top were a spicey mixture that complimented the fish very nicely. The bottom had some nice rice which had a layer of greens, that were honestly too acidic for me. The meal itself was very good (besides the very acidic greens).
Once we were all done chatting and getting quite tipsy we decided to head to a place that had dispensers full of premixed margaritas and dacquris, which was apparently supposed to have a dance club. But it did not. After one of the girls got sufficiently drunk and quite a bit loud we decided to call it quits and called for our Uber. We all arrived home sufficiently tired just before midnight.
It was a very fun night, a bit too many libations but it was fun. I also got to open and set up my new computer but that is a different post all together.
Moral of the story is I am glad I went out. I am glad that I went ahead and decided to go out with some ladies just to get out of the house and decompress a bit. There are nights where you just need to step out of life a little bit and relax. So for me that was a reset in a way last night as I just got to laugh, and enjoy, and forget the last two weeks.
When was the last time you went out with friends? Did you notice that it helped you relax a little bit more from your daily stresses?
