The main reason steemit was created was to help people. Have seen several heart-breaking stories on depression and discouragement which am not happy about. Emotional illness are the most dangerous type of illness. So i decided to start this series to help people facing depression and discouragement because i was a victim of it.
This post is actually a sequel to my post-The Defeated Champion which was actually my story with little modifications. My low self-esteem gave birth to depression and discouragement which am waging war against. I believe am winning the battle.

How to deal with depression is one of the most searched key-words related to living on google and steemit has also justify that. Let understand how this come into place
Believe it or not, life is a battle. Every day, minute and seconds we are all wrestling with a certain challenge. Of what use is life without challenges just like soldiers and wars. In fact, it is what makes life worth living. Challenges are inevitable in life. They qualify us for the next stage in life growth. Life has different perspective/views and choices are the basics. That which you see of life, it reveals to you. It all depends on what we see of every situation in life because it is a function of our state of mind.
If challenges are part of life, then the joy of life is that we overcome these challenges at every stage in life. Every one of us craves to be a victor in the battle of life. But we must also know that defeat is inevitable in life. Not everything in life will go as planned. But what matter most is what you see of it and how you respond to it.

What do you see of life?
Defeats are stimulants of positive thinking and foundations of excellence/success. It has in it the power to push you forward in life; it all depends on your perspective of it. It is a blessing in disguise.
Defeat is the pathway to achieving greater feats in life
Depression and discouragement are syndromic features of embracing defeat negatively. The three are progressive in relation and nature (from defeat to discouragement to depression).
How to deal with defeat, discouragement and depression
- Understand that they are part of life:
Defeat, discouragement and depression are part of life, not all of life.
Life is made up of ups and downs; good times and dark times. We all have to experience it. They are temporary and not final. Admitting them does not make you a failure in life.
You can’t avoid them, use them.
Until you understand this you won’t be able to unlock the power in them. So see them as stepping stones you must climb to achieve that success of your dream. Everything in life we not go as planned.
Learn from defeat: In defeat are knowledge and experience to achieve success smoothly. A defeat in a game gives a hint to the player to win the game flawlessly. So, defeat gives you skills and experiences to win the battle of life.
Lighten up your mind: Defeat, discouragement and depression are normalcy. But worry magnifies them in our minds. It is a load that will keep pressing you down into a depressed mood. So help yourself by not worrying, rather take action by learning from them and using them to your advantage.
- Be positive:
Attention is attraction.
We are attracted to what we pay attention. Pay attention to the positive side of life. Always see the positive aspect of life. So many are in a depressed state due to negative thinking. Negativity drains our strength and repels success.
- Seek help: Certain challenges are definitely beyond our capacity. We need the strength and words of motivation from friends to overcome these challenges.
Open up, speak it out or it will swallow you and drain you.
