Don’t you feel sometimes that as humans we are kind of like hoarders? We tend to hoard things and people, emotions and feelings and make a huge pile of one on top of another and when it all gets too messy, we start complaining about it. It’s same with how your room gets messy over time and that starts to affect your mood and your very well being.
Doesn’t it feel awesome when you wake up one day and decide to clean up your room? It is tiring but when it is done, that feeling of relief and declutter is so awesome. Why can’t we do the same for our emotional state though? Why do we keep holding on to ancient feelings and regrets and let that burden eat us from within?
The longer we hold on to something, the greater the strain on us. Don’t believe me? Put your hand out straight in front of you and place a very small book on your hand. Since it’s a very light weight book, your hand can easily hold on to it. But keep holding it for 10 minutes, and even that small book will start to tire your hand. The exact same thing happens to our brains too!
The Bad State of Affairs
As I said before, we are like hoarders and so we tend to hold on to things whether they are useful or not. This creates unnecessary burden on our brains and emotional state. That is why so many people walk through life feeling so overwhelmed all the time, as if they are being choked at all times.
When did you last meet a person who was truly carefree and had absolutely no or very little stress in their life? I am guessing that rarely happens these days. That’s because most of us are stressed out about one thing or the other. Just take a look at an average human today and how many worlds he or she juggles up.
There is work, of course, which becomes one of the most important part of anyone’s life. Then there is family and all the responsibilities that come with it. There are your friends and colleagues. There can be your boyfriends and girlfriends. Then there are your desires or things that you love to do.
How in the world is a single person going to handle so many different aspects of his/her life? Add to this the emotional drainage that every aspect brings with it and it becomes clear why everyone is so burdened.
Let Go And Be Happy
One of the most effective ways a modern human can be happier and achieve a better emotional state is to let go of things that are totally useless and also to let go of things that are not in their control.
Let go of ego and half your troubles will end there. Ego clouds your judgement and makes you into a control freak and if life teaches you something, it is that you simply can’t control everything. Also, let go of as many bad emotions as possible like anger, jealousy, regret because all these achieve nothing.
Then let go of the toxic people in your life and only keep place for ones that support you in your journey. Let go of all the bad habits that we tend to develop over time and that end up being detrimental to us in various ways.
All I’m trying to say is, try to declutter your life as much as you possibly can and watch the level of clarity you will gain once you do that. Just let it go.
