I didn't think I would hit 700 followers for a while. I am sure I am like most people here on Steemit and have a real idea why someone chose to follow what I post here. All I can do is say thank you to each and every one of you. Maybe do a bit of an update as to who I am to help new followers know me a bit better. Maybe some of you would not mind leaving a comment about what made you follow me, a bit about you, etc. Might end up with more followers. ;)
First, I am not the same person I was when I joined Steemit late last year. We all change and I am no different.
I am still a big gamer, occasionally dabble in politics, food reviews, movie news, etc. I am just a writer of whatever interests me at the moment. That may end up being a huge hit here or it might flop harder than Pee Wee Hermans comeback career. I still enjoy writing it and making it available for anyone interested in reading it. Monetary gain is second to me, though it is nice to see a monetary value assigned to the appreciation others have for your content.
I am nothing special, just a regular guy from Arkansas who likes to write. I recently, earlier this week actually, stopped writing press releases for a living. The money was good but the stress was horrendously overbearing in my daily life. I wrote press releases professionally for nearly a decade and it was hard to stop. It is amazing what stress can do to you and how you don't realize it till you get out of it.
I work a day job as well in a sheet metal shop. I like working with my hands so it is killing two birds with one stone. The other being a nice steady paycheck.
I am not the type of person to brag about what Steemit has done for me. At least not outside of these types of posts. I see others do it and have no problem with it, that style is just not me.
One thing Steemit has done for me is helping me expand my writing. I own three sites covering old games, portable, and general entertainment respectively. Steemit allows me to write posts like this, ones outside the norm and wouldn't fit the sites I own.
Another thing that Steemit has done for me, it allows me to finally see the light at the end of the tunnel as far as living a rent based life. We are purchasing seven acres of land in a beautiful town an hour away and will be living there by this time next year. We will have the land paid off in less than five years thanks to the help of my earnings here on Steemit and writing on services like Fiverr and Upwork.
I am also huge into cryptos like Bitcoin, Ether, etc. I believe this is the future and we are just starting to see the benefits that will begin to crop up, even beyond the face value.
I also make art out of Perler beads and sell that on eBay from time to time. It all goes into the pot to improve the lives of me, my wife, and our three four-legged children. The fact that others think there is value in what I create is just mindblowing at times. It is truly a blessing.
The key to success with anything is to be dedicated, love what you are doing, and remember to enjoy life.
