Last year, was the first ever,
Love Pirates Festival. I went and had a blast. The festival was held in April and even though it rained for most of the weekend, I knew I would come back again.
This time I'm helping out in the festival. I'll be running the Live Stage along with a good friend of mine. This will be my first time, to do something like this but I'm up for the challenge. Plus, I know almost everyone
who will be there.
The photos in this post are from last year, except for the promotional image below. I'll be heading there on Wednesday to help with the set up and to set up my own camp. My three girls will also be coming with me.
It is held in a wonderful famiky run campsite, which is beside the most beautiful lake. There are quite a few bonuses to having it there as the campsite already hold a license to sell food and alcohol, plus they have great services and are super cheap too. So it's a win win really.
A few weeks ago, I met up with my friend who I'll be running it with, plus V who is also a very good friend and one of the main organiser's. To discuss the line up for each day.
We had a gap on Friday and Saturday morning, so I suggested holding a Singing workshop. Very freestyle of course. Where we will be singing some old dance tunes.
This is my little blurp that I have wrote for the workshop.
The 90's took dance music from the underground into the mainstream. Lets tap into that energy, as we sing some of those classics together, whilst putting our own fresh twist on them.
Join us Friday and Saturday morning at the Live Stage, where we will learn the lyrics, come up with the rhythm and pull it all together, to perform at the Open Mic on Sunday.
In my mind, I'm thinking You Got The Love by Candi Station,Sweet Harmony by the Beloved, Open Up by Leftfield and Touch Me by Rui Da Silva. I think that 4 is enough to learn and rehearse in a two hour workshop. We'll I guess we'll see.
I have held a few workshops in my time, but never for singing. More for permaculture and cuntcraft. Cuntcraft, I actually done at last years Love Pirates and it went really well. This year I'll be too busy with the Live Stage, to do it again.
I'm really looking forward to getting away though. Yes I'll be working, but I'll also be having fun too. With lots of my tribe around me. I've been working almost everyday for the last 5 weeks, so it feels good to be getting away for a little bit.
I'll be taking lots of photos, which I will share over the next few days. For now, I am busy packing and getting everything ready, so we can leave on Wednesday. Arrrrrr.
