Easter morning...what exciting event! I knew we had to get the boys up super early...to be ready for church in time. As usual, I popped up and got myself ready first. The boys always take forever, and I knew they’d be distracted by candy and toys they the Easter bunny had brought!
My oldest son got up first and discovered his bucket of goodies. The Easter bunny was very good to him, and on top of the usual delectable assortment of chocolates and jelly beans...he got a new Ben 10 toy! This was a major surprise and he was ecstatic! He also noticed similar toy sticking out from his brothers basket. It then became his mission to wake up his little brother and “help” him open his new toy.
Once both boys were up, we headed downstairs. grandma had prepared bacon, eggs and toast. THRe bous scarfed does thier meals in hopes of receiving a piece of Easter candy as dessert! Once our meal was done...it was time to get everyone ready for church.
I’ll be the first to say that I’m a slacker when it comes to getting the family to church. The boys are not used to it (and neither is the hubby). It was quite the struggle to get everyone motivated. The fact that we arrived late, and had to stand didn’t make it any easier! My husband had to park a mile down the road and walk back in 40 degree weather. I still see it necessary to go to a place of worship on Easter, after all...it’s the real reason for the whole holiday!
After church, we make a quick detour to Starbucks...then back to grandmas to wait for the other family members.
I thought I had done good with bringing all of the usual Easter items up with us...until my oldest son asked about finding hidden Easter eggs! Oops! How could I have forgotten the Easter egg hunt!? Luckily, Grandma came to rescue. She told me she had hidden some eggs in the basement for all the little kids...but she had some extra if I wanted to hide them outside.
The boys loved it! The weather warmed up quite a bit and they had a great time running around the yard.
The family arrived shortly after and we had a feast!
The spread was awesome. There was salad, lasagna, pasta, meatballs, chips with spicy buffalo chicken dip, and pizza dip...lots of veggies and fruits...and desserts! We all ate so much that naps were definitey next on the to do list...right after the indoor egg hunt.
Again, the kids had fun playing...we hung at the house the rest of the day and ended the evening with a lovely glass (or two) of wine (the adults only of course) It was a lovely holiday with lots of friend and family. We couldn’t have asked for more!
