I have already lost bank accounts because I refused to use Biometric ID, and because banks are larcenous thieves, so I am not personally at risk. However President Trump has issued an executive order forcing all US banks to confirm 'citizenship' of account holders. My present understanding is that this requires banks to KYC account holders with biometric ID, such as a passport, or Real ID, or similar ID mechanisms. I could be wrong, and because I don't personally have any financial assets at risk I don't really care, and further I never intend to use biometric ID for any reason whatsoever, so intend to die on that hill if it rises under my feet.
I am not at all representative of most Americans, but am probably one of the wildest outliers, in fact. My information is that ~48% of Americans don't have a passport, and likely don't have other forms of biometric ID. Last year Vietnam required everyone to provide biometric ID to have a bank account, and, when there was mass non-compliance, seized >80 million bank accounts. Presumably there was massive and rapid compliance after that. Mexico has announced it will require everyone to provide biometric ID to have a phone starting in July. I assume there will be mass non-compliance there too, and when everybody finds their phones have been de-activated, there will suddenly be massive and rapid compliance.
I doubt most Americans have any idea this executive order is being implemented as we speak, and the first they will know about it is when their bank seizes their accounts. I strongly recommend taking action as you are able to secure your funds by whatever means you think best, without delay, because I expect this order to be implemented at any moment. I have suffered my funds being seized by American banks, know it is inconvenient, and I am certain that the more funds you have in banks, the more inconvenient it will be when it happens to you.
You are now forewarned, which enables you to confirm this threat to your money and to choose what to do about it before it happens. That may not be your favorite thing to do today, but I know it will be less inconvenient to you than suddenly having no money. Take action, or suffer the consequences, as you prefer.
