Something that needs to be understood is that institutions are amongst the most powerful vectors of pandemic. The power of quarantine to stop pandemics is because of the separation of people it undertakes, preventing spread of infection from one individual to others.
Institutions concentrate people, causing them to be vectors for infection to other members of the institution. Schools, prisons, factories, events, and etc., all concentrate people and cause them to become sources of infection if they carry the pandemic pathogen. Because this pathogen is infectious for weeks before it causes symptoms, many people carry and pass it on without having any idea they have caught it and should be quarantining themselves.
Sadly, one of the most tragic things we've learned from the SARS2 pandemic currently ravaging societies around the world is that hospitals and medical facilities are amongst the institutions most liable to being vectors for infection. Health care workers are facing elevated risk as a result.
One of the things Iran has done to cope with this fact is empty it's prisons. That may be startling to people that haven't considered this issue, but realizing that keeping prisoners confined causes them to become vectors for infecting wider society may help to understand why releasing them helps to protect society from pandemic.
It's the same reason closing schools, public transportation, and borders are essential aspects of functional quarantines. Centralization that has accompanied industrial production in recent centuries is one of the most egregious causes of humanity's susceptibility to pandemics.
Decentralizing your personal life is one of the most effective things you can do to protect yourself, all your loved ones, and your community, from SARS2. Stop taking public transport. Stop being part of groups of people, whether at events, work, or school. Find and develop ways to produce goods and services that engender as little interpersonal contact as possible, and this includes buying goods and services from industrial producers.
The world is changing, and this pandemic is a trigger for the transformation. In recent decades a new paradigm of production of goods and services has arisen, decentralizing means of production so that individuals can manufacture things that used to only be possible to centralized industry due to the economy of scale.

Centralization underlies war, famine, plague, and the dramatic separation between the wealthy and poor. I'd like to add a note here about something that seems to be misunderstood regarding ACE2 and the SARS2 pathogen. A study, not even peer reviewed, with 8 subjects, only one of whom was an Asian male, and none of whom were Caucasian males, is frequently cited by people speculating that SARS2 is an ethnically targeted bioweapon. It is impossible to characterize billions of people of Asian descent from the one individual this study included. It is nothing but speculation to conclude that Caucasians are less susceptible to SARS2's attack vector of ACE2 receptors based on a study that didn't even include one Caucasian male.
The utterly fantastic nature of such speculation is strongly revealed by data that has come out of China, Iran, and Italy recently, which shows that both Iran and Italy, far more Caucasian than China, have both experienced higher injury and death rates than China.
Please, stop spreading this nonsensical theory that never had statistical relevance to begin with, and has never even been verfied by independent research. This is no comment on whether or not SARS2 was altered in a lab, or whether it was altered in a lab to create a bioweapon (which are not the same thing). It simply is discarding the rank speculation based on looking at 8 individuals that SARS2 is a bioweapon that ethnically targets Asians.
The morbidity and mortality rates coming from Europe and Western Asia actually would strongly support the opposite conclusion, and there's enough outrage that should be directed at the lies of the WHO, the enemedia, and politicians, that have seemingly purposely increased the spread of this pandemic, without false and misleading fables misdirecting public anger.
There are real bad guys that have caused actual death and suffering to far more impact society as a result of this pandemic. Pretending in a boogyman will prevent holding those criminals to account for their genocidal crimes. The Mayor of Florence who started a 'Hug a Chinese' campaign on Feb. 1, is one of the architects of Italy's current slaughter. The government of the UK that is acting to promote 'herd immunity' (which is just the survival of those people that aren't killed by the pandemic), are acting to kill susceptible civilians in their jurisdiction. The enemedia that downplayed the infection, failed to recommend rational steps to prevent it, and has censored facts regarding it's spread and consequences, like Fakebook, Twatter, and Goolag, as well as the WHO, which as far as I know still hasn't called for international travel from centers of infection to stop, all need to be held to account, and confusion being spread by spreading fake news about ethnic targeting will make that harder.
Don't make the truth harder to understand. Lives depends on it. Lies kill.
Don't help kill innocent civilians with this plague.
