Happy Anniversary to ME!
Rather than create a separate or exclusive post to celebrate my 1st Anniversary on Steemit I want to incorporate it into my daily writing exercise "DAY ONE" and reflect back on what brought me here and my journey so far.
I know it sounds cliché but, this year has flown by! I have a theory around this that I will save for a future entry because today, it's all about celebrating my first year on Steemit and sharing my experiences thus far. I must admit, I expected things to progress at a faster pace when it has come to building my account and influence in the community. But that's totally fine as I have to spread my time and energies around to various platforms and projects and of course, my personal life. During the process though, I'm proud to say I haven't used a "bot" once!
Say No To Bots!
My first few months were spent exploring and finding my "tribe". I discovered the Rap Challenge (now seemingly defunct) and immediately got involved. Hip Hop has been a big part of my life and I was intrigued to see how a blockchain community interacted. Not long after, I got involved in the Beat Battle and became a judge until it was time to finally hit the deep end and kick off our own initiative called with the brother
.
It wasn't long before the project took a life of its own and I began to formulate plans for our next initiative. I'd been so inspired by my vision of a Blockchain future and how that would look like when merged with my passion for Hip Hop. I spent many days writing and devising ways it might one day become something bigger than the humble souls who brought it to life. So we introduced aka Hip Hop The Blockchain.
All the while, on ground and with the people I knew, I took every opportunity to promote blockchain platforms (including Steemit no doubt). Then I realised I was biting off a lot more that I could chew. The challenges made for additional restrategizing and accepting the fact that not everyone is going to see the potential and benefits that I could see. It made me realise that the community already on Steemit was special and unique.
I've gotta say though, Team Malaysia has been absolutely fantastic and as a member and advocate I've been blessed to work with them to continue the process of informing and educating the masses. Thanks to the support of
and
of course! In fact, the idea of a localized Steemit community led to the creation of
, a group of residents and crypto enthusiasts where my parents live. I'm also happy to say I've finally got both parents on and finally active! Go support their posts at

Above all else, this platform has rekindled my love of writing. Here I am on Day Five of my personal writing challenge: DAY ONE. Who knows exactly how long I'll be able to keep it up, but the initial thought was that if I wrote everyday for a year I'd have enough material for a book. So, this is my attempt at finally making it happen. I guess a year from now I'll be launching the book exclusively on Steemit? Let's see!
Lastly, before I end this post
I want to thank everyone who has supported me along the way...
and everyone else!. You have provided me inspiration, encouragement, hope and a sense of community so unique to Blockchain that nothing else really compares! You are appreciated!
Day Five.
The End
