Between Income and Employment

Fish landing activity in the small port of Sawang, South Aceh Regency, Aceh. The port was built by the local government for fishermen who earn a living in the ocean. This fish port is only for small fishing boats. Half of the local population depends on the fishing profession, some of them are gardening.

Traditional fishermen and their income

Fishermen in our place always maintain the traditional marine knowledge passed down from generation to generation, sometimes people from the maritime academy reject their theory because they are unable to explain it scientifically.

They use eco-friendly fishing gear, erratic catches, but the joy is still felt even when the minnow is brought home, they are always grateful despite the lack of sustenance earned.

The lessons we can learn from their daily lives are not greedy, modest and not proud.
