A certain young and upcoming boxer who wasn't well known was slated for a boxing battle with the then heavy weight champion.
Everyone knew he wouldn't beat this heavy weight champion because physically speaking, the heavy weight champion was way stronger than him.
He was nothing but a weakling according to the heavy weight champion.
This young boxer's mother was so excited and went about telling people her son was going to defeat the heavy weight champion.
He didn't want to disappoint his mother, so he practiced day and night just to make her proud.
Few days to the battle, his mother died and he after mourning for a while, intensified his practice.
When the day of the battle came, it didn't take seconds for the heavy weight champion to knock him down repeatedly.
After the first round, the heavy weight champion was still taking the praise and just few minutes to the end of the game, tables were turned and the heavy weight champion was defeated by the young boxer.
He became the new heavy weight champion.
When asked how he was able to defeat the heavy weight champion when everyone thought it was impossible, he said.....
"I don't know how, but I did it. I had promised my Mom before her death that I'll defeat him and with each box, I said.... This is for my Mom"
His Mom was his why....
Many people today are still finding it difficult to achieve their goals because they don't have a why.
Why do you see some people struggling really hard to make it, to earn a living, to be successful, etc...
It is because they have a specified "why"
Their why may be their family, self, shelter, love etc.
But what keeps them going is because they are reminded of their why.
It is your "why" that will make you keep pushing when all strength and hope is lost.
A prospective first class graduate will keep late nights because he/she wants to emerge the best.
Emerging the best is their why and that is why they keep pushing to succeed.
Your why is what spurs you on to keep moving no matter the set back.
I have a friend who has been struggling with setting up his business for 3 years now.
If he didn't have a "why", he most likely would have given up.
When you have a why, circumstances wouldn't stop you from pushing on.
When you have a why, the *how to execute it becomes clearer.
If you don’t have a strong REASON behind your actions, your actions are less likely to create quality results.
If you do have a strong “WHY” you have all the FUEL you need to drive you forward – to success.
