Today was a day of achievement! I convinced a younger couple that they could pull off a purchase, when they weren't planning to be in the market. They left with a vehicle and were thrilled. It was a great deal for them, a 2012 Hyundai Sonata with 60k miles for $7,500.
They were fun to work with, but upon entry to the dealership, they were talking about making their next car purchase a month down the line.
I walked the lot with them and the girlfriend(purchaser) totally liked the Sonata. Loved the test drive, loved the color and loved the sound system.
I turned them by saying, "What else are you looking for, at this price?"
They told me that they may have a decent down payment in a week, I said "This car will sell on Monday, you can bank on it."
Nervous glances ensued between the couple.
Next thing I said was, "You guys both have good credit and strong income, why don't we forget about your trade and try your credit without it?" "Let's give it a shot, if you don't like the numbers, you wait on purchasing."
Next thing you know, I'm seeing tail lights and a few more shekels in my paycheck.
I only wrote this story to show that I'm not a real "used car salesman". I'm the actual informant to the public regarding how the car sales dickery works and how to prosper while dealing with it.
I put together a nice deal for a young couple. They were entertaining the idea of giving away their old Miata as a trade-in on the Sonata. I gave it the once over and told the guy to keep it if he liked it, because my bosses would've tried to steal it for $500.
Some salesman actually have a heart. When you find a trustworthy salesman, add them to the list of trusted services you have in your life, like: Mechanic, Plumber, Electrician, Contractor, Craftsman, Carpenter, etc. Add trusted salesman for a car to that list.
Peace,
Sheeps
