‘Earth provides enough to satisfy every man’s needs, but not every man’s greed’
People are always posting stunning pictures of the Maldives 🇲🇻 and I can’t blame them, I do the same! But one thing that I also think about a lot is the fact that with global warming and the sea 🌊 levels rising, how much longer will we be able to enjoy places like this?!
We all love stunning landscapes and being around nature, but we don’t realise the price we’re paying in our everyday life whilst overheating our homes, using too much plastic, throwing stuff away without separating them so that items that can be recycled will be recycled...
The environment is a responsibility of every person on earth 🌏 and don’t think this is something that’s going to happen in the future, it’s already happening. When I am talking to the natives of the Maldives they tell me that the rain ☔️ season used to be in July & August, now it’s between April and October, that’s due to climate change! The size of the island we’re staying on has shrunk by a third over the past 15 years due to the rise of the sea levels.
Closer to home, glaciers are melting, summers and winters are becoming more and more erratic and unpredictable. Floods and earthquakes are nature’s way to respond to all this, but it’s not enough, the biggest violator is not the animals or the plants, the natural causes or the gods ... it’s humans!
So stop 🛑 thinking it’s someone else’s responsibility, we should all do our part! Don’t start tomorrow, start today, start now! Simple things you can do:
- Separate waste
- Use public transportation instead of the car when you can
- Turn the heating down by 1 degree in your home
- Make sure your home is properly isolated, so that the heat you produce doesn’t go to waste
- Purchase more fresh products and less in packaging/plastic
If we all started with these 5 simple measures we can already start making a change!
Thanks from the stunning Maldives 🇲🇻
