Our bodies are designed to obtain Vitamin D when our bare skin is exposed to sunlight. When the sunlight touches our skin, a reaction takes place where skin cells are enabled to produce Vitamin D. Your body needs Vitamin D in order to promote bone growth and to absorb calcium. Fragile and brittle bones, muscle weakness or fatigue result to the lack of Vitamin D. Therefore, it is healthy to spend an enough amount of time in direct sun, about 10 minutes. However, too much time in the sun could be bad for you. Spend just the right amount of time in the sun.
