Hello Steemians! I know its been a while since I last updated you on the progress of the SteemitVan. Well there was not that much to report about. We were on holiday in the South of Spain for a week so we could not work on the camper.
But now we are back in Madrid and already started to make some progress.
This week it was all about the kitchen.
We finally decided to put the kitchen unit at the end of the van as a corner kitchen, which means it will take up some space from the back entrance, but we are ok with that. It turned out to be a good sized kitchen with a decent sized sink, quite a lot of work space and lot of storage underneath. One the benefits of this layout is that we can put the fresh and grey water containers by the back door so it is easy to move them or fill them up by just opening the back door.
My favorite part of the whole kitchen unit is the sink, which we made from a stainless steel salad bowl. I recommend this to everybody who needs an inexpensive, but nice sink. you only need a salad bowl, a strainer, a drill, a maybe a jigsaw and some water sealant. Simple is that!
We also started painting the kitchen unit, well mainly my girlfriend, because I am so bad at it that I am not allowed to paint any more. I tried to convince her by painting one of the cupboard doors, but it turned out to be a disaster. I still like it though, it is customized. Awful but customized...
Anyway here are some pictures about it, you can decide yourself...
What else did we do this week? Well not much, we had to make 4 drawers for the kitchen unit, which was a real pain in the ass. I am never doing drawers again in my life. It took us at least 8 hours to make 4 small drawers. Ok there were lot of obstacles on the way, basically there are not 2 parallel sides in the whole unit. But that is how we like it. Customized. Haha.
Apart from the cladding we did some more cladding on the other wall, I started preparing the cladding for the side door.
There is still a lot to do. There is still a lot of money to spend.
Today I am going to order the water pump, two water containers, a micro-switch tap and we are also going to do some more painting with the family. Wish me luck!!
I almost forgot to mention my favorite part of the van so far. We made a cute foldable table on the back door. Have a look! I am loving it!!
