Here we go again with the fireworks, I hate this time of year as it really annoys my pups. We start hearing them nearly every day until the New year. I am going to have a couple of anxious pups. My oldest pup Geordie, he is 14, the fireworks have never bothered him, as long as he can cuddle under the quilt or blanket the constant bang from the fireworks, he manages to sleep through them. My middle pup Mika, she is a wreck every time one goes off she barks and pants, she can never get comfortable whilst they are going off. She struggles the hardest out of all of them. As for my youngest pup Luna, fireworks don't bother her until Mika starts barking Luna starts then they both wind each other up.
We have tried everything over the years, medication, jumpers, ear muffs etc none of them cut the sound out totally. When someone moves there wheelie bin it sounds like a firework Mika starts panicking. We turn the TV up and try and keep her busy, bedtime is the worst time as once we are in bed the house is quiet so every firework can be heard and the people around where I live like to set them off in the early hours of the morning.
Last year we pulled socks over her head, cutting of the foot part first then pulling what's left over her head, It is quite right around her ears, he wasn't to bothered about it either sadly the firework noises could still be heard.
There is nothing that works to stop the panic, she gets anxious and stressed out as a lot of animals do. I think about all the strays that are out there panicking or the horses that panic.
A town in Italy passed a law in 2015 to only use quiet fireworks, you still get the colours and flashes without the loud bangs, They still look amazing as the video below shows.
Every Country should be using these as its not just about animal a few children can't handle the noises. My oldest daughters has a few problems, when she was younger she would hide her head hoping to block out the noises.
CHANGING THE SUBJECT
I have had a quiet day playing card games with my daughter, she pulled the UNO cards out, yeah I lost I always lose, we had a laugh and it cheered her up a lot. Hubby came home took the dogs out then when he got back he joined us for a game, he is worse than Nichola for playing games and he must win, he is competitive over the top competitive even when the girls were young.
We are busy planning Nichola's birthday, she is 24 next Monday, she is going to see JLS in concert on Saturday night then home late. We are expecting my oldest daughter to arrive on Sunday so we may go out for food or stay in and order a takeaway. With it just being me and her on the actual day I may take her out shopping then a snack. Depends on the weather and how I am feeling.
Thank you for visiting. ๐๐
