I hired a contractor to create a closet in some extra space in a wall I had beside my stairs. When he came to do the work we were talking in my garage and he noticed my rack of GPUs hashing away. When he asked what it was, I asked him if he was familiar with Bitcoin. Not only was he familiar, it turns out he had purchased some Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and Ripple a few months ago.
While we were talking, he mentioned that he wanted to buy more as we both agreed that the future of cryptocurrency is bright. I offered to pay him for the project he was doing with Litecoin and he said he would consider it. A few days later when he finished the work and gave me the bill, I asked how he wanted payment. He said he would take half in fiat and half in Litecoin.
A few hours later he sent me his Litecoin address. I was excited to make my first payment with Litecoin, but I was immediately challenged by how much to pay. The bill was in USD so I wasn't sure what to use as the best source for conversion. I also worried about the conversion rate changing from the time I send the LTC to the time he received it. I made the best estimate I could and sent the Litecoin on it's way. We'll see how it goes.
How many of you Steemians make purchases with Litecoin regularly and what tools do you use to calculate a Litecoin value when the bill is presented in a different currency?
