My entry into the Reduce Plastic Consumption competition…
Wherever I go, I carry this ToGoWare Utensil set made of bamboo! I work to avoid single use plastics, and these utensils are key. Never again will I use a plastic spoon once and throw it away, destined for a long long life in the landfill. I also just detest the feeling of plastic in my mouth, so these utensils are win win all around.
I’m also trying out this reusable sustainable food storage Bee’s Wrap, an alternative to plastic wrap. It’s made with organic cotton, beeswax, organic jojoba oil and tree resin. It sticks to itself with a little heat from your hands, which softens the wax just enough to create seal. It’s easy to wash with cool water and gentle soap. It's really nice for covering half an avocado to enjoy later in the day.

Another MAJOR way I reduce my plastic consumption is cooking at home and buying as much as I can from the local farmers market and bringing my own reusable bag. It's astonishing how much extra plastic and packaging materials go into groceries...WTF is up with all those plastic produce stickers that leave a layer of glue of the vegetables?! I'm not into that. Also, I find it so much more nourishing for my mind, body and soul to eat food straight from a farm rather than a package. It's tougher in the winter, but in the summer I'm there twice a week!
