Do you usually celebrate Valentine's Day? I am not that much into this holiday but seeing the people around me being very busy with this holiday it made me think about its origins.
The legend says that once upon a time there was a Roman Emperor whose name was Claudiu II. He was a fierce warrior and had been involved in many wars. He wanted a strong army and this, in his opinion, had the meaning that soldiers should never get married in order to be fully involved in the army and this quickly became a law. A christian priest, named Valentine thought that people should marry because this is God's will for them so he secretly married some couples without having public wedding and ceremonies. Claudiu II found about what Valentine did and he got him arrested. Since Valentine was a young and wise man, Claudiu thought that he could make him give up Christianity and become one of his soldiers. Valentine couldn't do this so he was sentenced to death.
We don't know if this legend is real or not. It is not a bad thing to celebrate love but I think you should celebrate it every day of the year. Only one day shouldn't be enough for us. Make your dear one feel special and loved every day. Make sure he/she knows that you appreciate him/her and express your love through small gestures every day it's possible.
