Is Love Important In Marriage?
Today everybody everywhere is talking about love. How importance love is in a relationship. You hear them saying married the person you love if you want a long lasting and happy marriage. In other word "love" is prerequisite for a happy and lasting marriage and that bring me to the question of why are we having at an alarming rate marriage break up here and there? Why are having many marriage in name only? Why are we having many couple living like stranger with each other? Why are many marriage not being able to survive the test of time and trials despite the marriage oath.
Now comparing the marriages of old and now, you will notice that there is a big difference. Marriage of old are arranged marriage where love was not a factor, where the bride or groom known nothing about each other, there was no courtship or pre marital sex but yet they last longer than today marriage. The question is why? What were they doing right that we the new generation are doing wrong?
One would have expect that with the level of our knowledge and exposure, marriage today will be heaven on earth. There are many marriage counselor now than in the past, many literature on marriage than in the past, many talkshow on marriage than in the past, many supporting group than in the past but yet our marriage can stand shoulder to shoulder with them. Why? What were they doing right that we are doing wrong? 
Please i will be very happy if anyone can shed light on those things that our ancestors were doing that we are not doing. Remember a happy marriage lead to a happy home which in turn lead to a happy and safe society.
