Do you ever find yourself stuck in a routine, but not sure how to get out? Have you ever felt a deep unease with where your life is headed? You see friends and family members achieving goals, but instead of feeling happy for them, you feel envy and negativity towards them.
These feelings occur when you are unhappy with your life because you are failing to make your dreams come true. Instead, you project your unhappy feeling about yourself onto others.
If you can identify the fears that hold you back from achieving the life you deserve, you will be one step closer to making the change in your life. Here are 7 reasons why you could be scared to live your life to the fullest.
#1. Financial responsibility
We all have financial responsibilities such as paying of your car, house mortgage, phone bills, student loans, rent, etc… the list can go on and on. So maybe you cannot afford to quit the job that makes you unhappy, and maybe it’s not the right time, that’s perfectly okay. Instead, make a plan to achieve your goal so you can pursue your passion.
My passion is to be a maker and artist that sell things that I make. Right now, my small business is not big enough to make it a full-time career, but that doesn’t mean I quit my dream. I first started with selling in local stores and now I’m selling at the farmer’s market. I’ve started working on Steemit as another source of income while working a fulltime job. Even taking baby steps towards what you want will life will compound, and overtime you will reach your end goal.
#2. Fear of Failure
We have all been there. Social pressures and self-doubt can lead to this insecurity. Sometimes if feels safer to stick to the devil we know. Instead of being scared to fail, learn to love failure, and keep moving. All great things do not happen without a struggle and tons of failure.
#3. Afraid of Change
Humans are creatures of habit, and change is often hard even if it is for the better. The fear of the unknown or uncertainty can prevent you from even trying. Often time, you play the “what if game” which can last for hours or even days. Instead of dreaming up all the worst-case scenarios, try to view your life as an adventure and take life by the horns!
#4. It’s too late
The idea that it’s too late is funny to me. Every so often, I have friends complain that they wished they started pursuing their dreams earlier, and now it’s too late. They have invested too much time already in their current career or education to change it’s course. Of course, this is silly, as we have our whole lives ahead of us. If you never went to school, but wanted to later in your life why is it too late now? It will only be too late if you never try.
#5. I don’t know what I want
I’ve had friends complain to me that it’s different for them. They have never had a drive to paint and do art like I do. That’s perfectly fine. If you do nothing, you will never figure out what you love to do. As we evolve and experience new things, we will discover what we want to do. You just need to pick a direction you think you might like and see where it takes you.
Hope my blog gave you food for thought. I would love to hear what you have to say about this topic and feel free to add to the list. Thanks for reading!
