When we send out love (to a pet, or to a garden, or to other humans) they hold that energy we have sent out, and then return it to us later. (Think of any time you've been sick or hurt, and a friend or pet helped you to feel better.)
So one of the most important things we can do is to cultivate a garden of love around us, sending out love into meaningful interactions and helping others to grow and thrive, because that becomes the "energetic savings bank" that can then reflect back to us when we need it (and everybody needs it, this is the back-and-forth of how things go.)
