My wife and I believe that love should be celebrated every day, not just on Valentine's Day. We married when we were just 21 years old and did not have a lot of money to spend on elaborate dinners and dozens of roses.
Instead, we created our own special tradition for celebrating Valentine's Day. And once our family started growing, our kiddos enjoyed the tradition just as much as my wife and I do.
Our Tradition
For as long as I can remember, my wife and I have ordered pizza for Valentine's Day. And not just any type of pizza, but the best kind of pizza in the world (in my opinion) - HAWAIIAN PIZZA!
In the early days of marriage, we would pick up some sparkling grape juice. Now we buy Sprite so that the kids can have something fun to drink. I know what you are thinking. This crazy couple likes to drink the hard stuff.
And somewhere along the way, my wife started baking heart-shaped cookies. My favorite is the chocolate chip cookie. I have an important job. I refine the shape of the heart by cutting away some of the edges. I love this job because I get to sample the cookie before everyone else.
Share the love!
Our kiddos love to celebrate Valentine's Day. They have not yet realized that most people celebrate romantic love on V Day. In our house, we have always chosen to celebrate familial love.
We each passed out our home-made Valentine's Day Card. We enjoyed great food. The company was even better. I am truly a blessed man. I am loved, and I get to love the most incredible people in the entire world.
Your Turn
Let's continue the conversation.
- Are you celebrating Valentine's Day this year?
- Why or why not?
- How do you show love to the people you care most about?
Thanks for stopping by. I look forward to hearing from you.
