Assumptions kill more relationships than anything else. It is well-known by most that attraction is what you see, infatuation what you feel but real love is what you know. This is the reason real love and particularly any lasting relationship has no assumptions, only facts. Problems that are ignored and look like they will go away on their own, that you don’t actually solve head-on, come back by themselves, more powerful.
I can not discount the fact that fate is cunning, but adaptation reverses roles of play. However, this is as unusual as finding someone who is able to eat as much as their own body weight in steak and still have room for dessert, in linear terms thou.
Many football fans will admit that nobody chases you when you don’t have the ball, so is it with life. It maybe true that money can’t buy happiness but equally valid that poverty can’t buy anything. What then is the solution? Let’s read on to find out.
Change
Many people resist change, and this has serious consequences. The most serious of all is the loss of crucial relationships. Fidel Castro died at 90 years of age after surviving 639 assassinations by the FBI and CIA. He was able to do this because of his adaptable nature, which ensured he kept the most valued relationships, those which ensured he lived a full life. His security was, as applies to everyone, only as strong as his weakest link.
As Seth Godin once said, “We’ve greatly exaggerated the risk of sinking, without celebrating the value of swimming.”
I once read of the inspirational adaptation of eagles in the 40th year of their lives. The process that determines if they live or die. Let’s read this story and see if it brings light to this matter.
How Eagles Adapt
A CHEEKY CROW has been photographed in a rare moment catching a lift on the back of a BALD EAGLE 25-feet in the air. These unusual images show the moment this intrepid crow landed on the back of a bald eagle while the much larger predatory bird was trying to find itself an early morning snack. This encounter lasted only a few seconds before the birds parted as friends and flew their own separate ways. This chance meeting was captured by amateur photographer Phoo Chan (50) in Seabeck, Washington, USA.
The Eagle has the longest lifespan of its species. It can live up to 70 years. But to reach this age, the eagle must make a very difficult decision!
In its 40th year, the eagle’s long and flexible Talons can no longer grab a prey which serves as food. It’s long and sharp beak becomes bent.
It’s old-aged and heavy wings, due to their thick feathers, stick to its chest and make it difficult to fly.
Then, the eagle is left with only two options: DIE or go through a painful process of CHANGE!
This process lasts for 150 days (5 months).
The process requires the eagle to fly to a mountain top and sit on its nest. There the eagle knocks its beak against a rock until it plucks it out.
Then the eagle will wait for the new beak to grow back after which it will pluck out its talons. When its talons grow back, the eagle starts plucking its old-aged feathers.
And after this, the eagle takes its famous flight of rebirth and LIVES for 30 more years! Although several sources have claimed this Eagle transition to be a myth, I chose to capitalize on the lessons we can draw from it.
Why is Change needed?
In order to survive and live. We too have to start the change process. We sometimes need to get rid of the unpleasant old memories, negative habits, and our fixed mindset. Only when freed from the past burdens can we take advantage of the present.
If an eagle can make a life-saving and life-changing decision at the age of 40, why can’t we?
In order to take on a new journey ahead, let go of your negative old limiting beliefs. Open up your mind and let yourself fly high like an eagle! When it rains, all birds occupy shelter. But the EAGLE avoids the rain by flying above the clouds! The problem is common to all but the attitude to solve it makes the difference. Don’t be afraid of change. Accept it gracefully.
As you do this, it is essential to respect other people’s way of thinking. As much as 5 + 3 = 8, so is 6 + 2. The way you do things is not the only way to do them.
Love
“We long for love, we wish we had more time, and we fear death.” – Will Smith
This brings me to this month’s theme, LOVE! Something every human will experience at some point. This, however, is about loving yourself, for you can not love another, without loving yourself. I further break this down.
‘Just because a rose smells better than a cabbage doesn’t mean it will make better stew. Don’t try to compare yourself too much with others. You too have your own strength, that you should search and build upon. You may surprise yourself and everyone with the quality of stew you can make.
Christians conversant with the story of Noah’s Ark will agree that all existing animals were in Noah’s Ark. A snail was one of those animals. If God waited long enough for snails to enter the Ark; His door of grace won’t close till you reach your expected position in life. Never look down on yourself, keep looking up, for broken crayons are still colors.’
It is essential to do this with a spirit of service. If serving is below you, leading is definitely beyond you. And I presume you, the reader, must lead in at least one element of your life. It doesn’t have to be a matter of could if you would, or would if you could. You can have the full package with love.
I wish you a fulfilling September 2017.
Sincerely,
Tonny Rutakirwa,
Chairman,
Tonniez Group Holdings.
Serving you since 28th December 2008
