Yes, that's right! I said it!
I have never read any of H.P. Lovecraft's work. I only ever bothered to learn the bare minimum about it to be able to pass at nerd parties; just enough to know when to laugh at a joke, when to look sad when the tragedy of his life was discussed, and how to spot the difference between the two things.
This video popped up in my recommended vids on ScrewTube and I thought, shurr! Why not, right?
Watching this video (and by "watching," I mean "listening to in the background whilst putting away all my toys from the party we had on earlier today) made me really want to look into it for the first time. The presentation made me realize that an author and his work can be two totally separate entities, while absolutely requiring one another to survive. The story that Simon Whistler tells (dubious as I am to believe everything he says, due to my near-total ignorance about the author at the time of this post) reminded me of a certain guy I used to think I knew.
If there are any Lovecraft fans on the Block, please give me suggestions of which end of the H.P. pool to jump into. I promise I will absolutely not make time to sit down with a long book but will be happy to download the audio version. Also, if there's an existing community of fans out there, please point me in the right direction.
