Kobe Luminarie is one of Japan's illumination festival which is held every year during winter. The 2017 Luminarie was held from December 8 2017- December 17, 2017 at Higashi Yuenchi Park, Chuo-ku, Kobe. This event is to commemorate the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake that happened in 1995, it was the most devastating earthquake that happened in Kobe, Japan.
The 200,000 hand painted light bulbs was donated by Italian Government.
This is to bring hope for the community who once was victims of the said earthquake.
This winter illumination festival is mostly visited by locals and tourists, really crowded.
It was magnificient!
Admission was free but they also welcomed donations.
The experience was great!
By visiting this perfect lights festival, we felt that Christmas was in the air even if me and my family are far away from home.
In addition, it was also the 150th anniversary of Kobe Port.
ā During this time, I just got out from the hospital from a surgery (hard headed me wants to stroll around!) please excuse me for the unperfect photos.
