When I think about what the most expensive yacht in the world would be, I am thinking of something along the lines of what Roman Abramovich or some UAE prince / oil baron would have. Some monstrosity with multiple decks, 20 bedrooms, multiple helipads and what not.
I quite enjoy seeing writeups and specials on these boats despite the fact that if i were to ever get near them i would be ushered away. Some of the world's best yachts are shrouded in secrecy and the owners won't let the press even photograph the interior, which is something I don't understand but anyway. I was surprised to find out that the world's most expensive privately-owned yacht isn't even very big.
Underwhelming to look at, you can't even land a helicopter on the thing so what's the point? Just kidding. It's impressive but certainly not anywhere near as jaw-dropping as the larger ones. This yacht is called "History Supreme" which i think is a lame AF name for a boat and it's value is around 4.5 BILLION dollars.
It isn't even terribly large but what makes it so expensive is that there were 100,000 kilograms of precious metals, mostly gold and platinum that is built into the walls, floors, decks, and apparently even the anchor. There is also a genuine dinosaur bone on display above the bed in one of the bedrooms.
All of this kind of begs the question... "why?" I suppose that some people just have so much money that they will do something like this. After-all, someone did commission to have a 15 million dollar I-phone made for them and said phone will function exactly like everyone else's.
There are very few images of this boat available online and the owner is simply listed as "an anonymous Malaysian businessman." There is also some speculation that the boat's existence is an elaborate prank and that it doesn't actually exist - I gotta say, I kind of hope it is a hoax. Super rich people buy some cray cray stuff, but if this is an actual thing, this might be the craziest thing of all.
