Sawfly on black cherry originated in Asia and has probably been in the Aceh since colonial times. It is now widely distributed in the Aceh wherever susceptible crops are grown. It is known as mango slug because of the larva's slimy, slug-shaped body. Although damage from the insect can be severe, especially on mango and sweet cherry, it is not considered a major pest. A standard spray program for other orchard pests usually keeps mango sawfly populations below damaging levels.
