Trends in fashion come and go but I'm not sure if anyone told this fish.
This little guy is a High Cockscomb, Anoplarchus purpurescens, they belong to the prickleback family. They have a similar body type to an eel but are actually a ray-finned fish. Most grow no bigger than about 20 cm and typically live on rocky reef in the intertidal zones from southern Alaska to southern British Columbia.
These fish have huge colour variations and in some cases you might not know if your shooting the same fish if they were side by side. One distinguishing feature of these fish is there mohawk like head structure. Having this colourful head peice makes these guys either very fashion forward or dinosaur. Either way I'm not sure they care.
Thanks for reading and have a great day!
