Hermit crabs inhabit almost all oceans of the world and use the discard shells and other objects objects they find to make their home in and protect themselves. This behaviour on the part of the crabs aids other marine creatures in finding homes as well.
In this case not only does the crab a have colourful, vibrant home but the tiny colonial anemones and the acorn barnacles have taken up residents on the shell as well. In most cases this is a mutually beneficial existence for everyone, each animal helping the other with catching food or preventing diseases.
I just have one question, I wonder how much the crab charges for rent?
Thanks for reading.
