Magetan Regency is a district in East Java Province, Indonesia. The capital is Magetan. It is adjacent to Ngawi regency in the north, Madiun and Madiun regencies in the east, Ponorogo regency, and Karanganyar regency and Wonogiri regency (both including Central Java province). Iswahyudi Airport, one of the main bases of the Indonesian Air Force in eastern Indonesia, is located in the district of Maospati. Magetan Regency consists of 19 districts, consisting of 208 villages and 27 sub-districts. Magetan Regency is crossed by Surabaya-Madiun-Yogyakarta main highway and the southern railway line of Java Island, but the path does not cross the Magetan regency capital. The only station located in Magetan district is West Station located in West District. Mount Lawu (3,265 m) is located in the western part of Magetan regency, the border with Central Java. In this mountainous area there is Telaga Sarangan (1000 m asl), one of the mainstay of this regency tour, which is in Magetan-Sarangan-Tawangmangu-Karanganyar tourist route. Magetan is known for its leather craft (for footwear and handbags), woven bamboo, rengginan, and pamelo (grapefruit) oranges and lempengnya crackers made from rice.
