Two of my favorite interests are traveling and magic. I remembered the first time I came across this idea was when I saw a street magic video by the famous magician David Blaine for the first time.
I was fascinated by his street magic performances. Not only is he is a master of close up magic but he was also actively performing them in front of random live audiences all over the world for free.
His magic does not discriminate and it connects with everyone regardless of race, gender, and social status. He performs simply because he wants to connect people through magic.
From that moment on, I realized magic is the art form that I have been searching for. A powerful tool that serve as a bridge to bring people together. In the moment of magic, people forget about their problems, responsibilities and more importantly...their differences.
I want to be able to travel and bring strangers together with magic. In order for me to do that, I have to first learn...magic. So this would be the beginning of my journey. My posts will serve as progress reports for my learning. I will have contents on the techniques that I learn as well as tutorials showing the completed tricks. Hopefully one day I will have enough skills to perform street magic when I travel!
I will be focusing on card tricks since it is one of the best portable tools for magic and will start by learning from the book "The Royal Road to Card Magic" by Jean Hugard. Although magic books are quite hard to read and could be boring at times, this is probably one of the best books for an intro to card magic. I recommend this to anyone who are interested in card magic.
This is an inexpensive book to pick up if you want to start on card magic.
