Cabin in the Woods, chapter six
Bella stood on the arm of the sofa so she could look out of the cabin window. From here she could see Laura and Josh climb into the car. They’d said they wouldn’t be long, so not to worry.
“Be good,” Laura said, bending down and stroking Bella’s head. Bella had whined, just a little bit. “Oh, sweetie!” Laura said, softly. “You won’t be allowed in the library,”. Bella had tilted her head to one side, trying to work out what kind of monstrous place a library was, if cute doggies weren't welcome. “And it’s too hot to leave you in the car. You’ll be better off here.”
Bella watched as they slammed the car doors closed. She wasn’t worried about them leaving her alone here in the cabin. Not that she was really ever alone, here.
Not anymore.
Bella didn’t think that Laura and Josh would be going anywhere. The strange man-that-wasn’t-a-man-anymore said he’d “fixed things”. “They won’t be goin’ nowhere,” he’d said, in that horrible voice of his, his thoughts bouncing around her head like a rubber ball on a hard wooden floor. “They won’t be abandoning you, little pooch, don’t you worry!” He had laughed then. Bella didn’t think the laugh was a nice laugh. It wasn’t like the nice tinkly laugh Laura did when she brought back a big shopping bag, and watched Bella try to climb into it. It was a horrible laugh that made Bella think of a rusty knife being scrapped along the side of a truck.
Bella didn’t like the man-that-wasn’t-a-man-anymore very much. There was something wrong about him.
Something BAD.
She didn’t like his smell. She didn’t like his attitude. And she certainly didn’t like the way he’d slipped into her head, when she was sleeping. That was just rude! He’d barged right in, nudging over her nice thoughts and dreams - about play, and tickles and food - to make room for his. She had tried to object but he had hurt her. The man-that-wasn’t-a-man-anymore said he was safe in here, with Bella, “no amount of prancing around like a big flouncy-assed hippy burning shit and chanting, was going to sage him from the cabin,” he’d said, gruffly before laughing his terrible laugh again. He’d told Bella to behave herself or “she’d get what’s coming to her, and no mistake.” He had shown her what he might do. He had shown her his thoughts.
Bella didn’t like his thoughts.
They weren’t nice thoughts that a GOOD DOG should have. They were full of blood and horrible things, that made Bella whine and shake when he made her watch them. And there were the noises too.
Bella didn’t like noise much.
And loud noises were scary. She certainly didn’t like screaming: that was very scary! And there seemed to be a lot of screaming in the man-that-wasn’t-a-man-anymore’s thoughts.
Bella looked at the car. It wasn’t making the noise it usually made when it was about to go somewhere. It wasn’t moving. She watched Josh get out of the car and scratch his head. He popped the hood and had a look at the bits underneath it. Bella could hear Laura say she didn’t know why he was bothering, because he “didn’t know shit about engines”. Josh shrugged and pointed at something. Laura came over and had a look over his shoulder and then jumped back. It was as if she had seen something she really didn’t like. Something that scared her.
Since the man-that-wasn’t-a-man-anymore had climbed into her head, Bella had seen lots of things she didn’t like. Many things that had scared her. Even though Bella liked to eat meat, she liked it best when it came out of tins, or - even better - little pouches. She liked it when it was put on a nice clean plate and put down for her, and she liked it when she was told she was a GOOD GIRL when she ate it.
Bella didn’t think she would like to her meat while it was still alive, struggling and trying to get away. She didn’t think she would like ripping the bleeding flesh off the bone.
And Bella didn’t think GOOD GIRLs ate humans.
It just wasn’t right. Was it?
The trouble was, Bella thought, watching Laura and Josh run back to the cabin, she was starting to forget what was right and what was not so right...

...
I nominate to write Chapter 7. You have 7 days (but let me know if you don't want to - or don't have time this week! - and I will nominate someone else). Here are the rules per
and previous chapter links are below as well.
Its simple, I will post a pic and start a story. Then I will tag a person to continue the story. After that person writes a new chapter it will nominate another person to continue the story. It will continue like that until we reach 10 chapters.
The nominated person have 7 days to come up with a new chapter for the story, if the nominated person don't write a new chapter then I will nominate another person. All the posts related to the story must have the hashtag #makeastory and tag me on them.
Also you have to add a pic or drawing related to your chapter of the story, if you don't have any you can use the one provided here. Once the ninth person writes the ninth chapter it have to nominate me to write the last chapter. In other words, I will write the first and the last chapter of the story.
The writers can do whatever they want with their part of the story. Whatever their imagination desires, there's no right or wrong in this story. The minimum word count its 100 words. The title must always say: "Let's Make A Story: Cabin In The Woods" and the number of the chapter ej: Let's Make A Story: Cabin In The Woods - Chapter 1. You can name the chapter if you want.
