Cabin in the Woods - Chapter 7!
Laura followed Josh into the cabin and slammed the door behind her, the walls shaking as the rotting wood struggled beneath the weight of her anger. Although she was infused with the remnants of the murdered woman and felt a desperate need to solve this mystery, she was still 'Laura' and she hated when things did not go her way.
"Damn car," she muttered beneath her breath, shooting her trademark glare at Josh. He thought himself a handyman, a jack of all trades, a man bestowed with the gift of restoration and reparation. He was mistaken. Ten years of marriage had amounted to ten years of failed projects and wasted money, money that would have been better used for that new handbag and that cute little outfit she had been eyeing off all summer. If they wanted the car fixed they would need to call a professional and there was no damned reception in this hell-hole!
"It's okay, honey. I'll work something out and we'll get to the library in no time; just need to find some tools."
Josh spoke in the warm voice he would normally use to placate her, but she would not allow it. Not today. Not after the memories she had experienced.
He hurried to another room before Laura could snarl her response and she rolled her eyes upwards. He was going to try and fix the car. Great. They would have to pay the professional twice as much when they could finally get in contact with the outside world.
GRRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrRRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrRRRRRRRRR!
"What the hell!?"
Startled, Laura spun around and peered in all corners of the room. The growls of an unknown creature reverberated against each wall, rising and falling in a bizarre hymn that thrummed through her body and set her blood alight as she yelled, "Josh! Do you hear that?"
"Honey, we're in the woods by a fish-filled river! It's just a bear. We're safe inside."
That placating voice again. She rolled her eyes once more, her inherent haughtiness helping to ward off the burgeoning fear, to slow the pulse of her racing heart, and shrieked as a bundle of fur leaped at her, her wail transforming into laughter as she realised it was just Bella.
"Oh, little Bella! I'm sorry sweetheart, did my silly yell scare you? Who's a good girl? Yes, you are! You're my good girl."
She nuzzled Bella, more to comfort herself than the scared pooch, but screamed as the chihuahua latched onto her arm with a bloodthirsty growl. Sharp teeth met soft flesh as Bella ravaged the limb with the strength of ten ravenous dogs and pawed at Josh's grandmother's necklace, tearing it from Laura's neck with such force the gemstones shattered as they met the floorboards.
"No, bad girl! BAD GIRL!"
Blood coursed down her arm in vibrant streams and splattered about her in a crimson aura as Laura whipped her arm back and forth and finally freed herself from Bella's vice-like jaws. The dog flew across the room and smacked into the wall, a bewildered whimper the pooch's only response as Josh raced into the area, a rusty wrench grasped tight in his hand, and he stopped dead in his tracks as he gaped at Laura in wide-eyed horror.
The agony did not perturb her and she paid no heed to Josh's dumbfounded stare, his unintelligible babbles, or Bella's unnatural behaviour... the necklace was broken; they were no longer protected! Scurrying about on the wooden floorboards, her mangled arm forgotten, she tried to gather each tiny shard of the shattered gemstones and was unaware of her sobs or her own tears rolling down her cheeks as she struggled to piece the ward back together, the despairing moans of Josh's grandmother's ghost echoing through her mind as she fumbled for each particle.
It was no use. The ward was destroyed... and her link to the dead woman was starting to fade.
The End of Chapter 7

I nominate ~ ~ to write Chapter 8. You have 7 days (but let me know if you don't want to - or don't have time this week! - and I will nominate someone else). Here are the rules per
and previous chapter links are below as well.
Its simple, I will post a pic and start a story. Then I will tag a person to continue the story. After that person writes a new chapter it will nominate another person to continue the story. It will continue like that until we reach 10 chapters.
The nominated person have 7 days to come up with a new chapter for the story, if the nominated person don't write a new chapter then I will nominate another person. All the posts related to the story must have the hashtag #makeastory and tag me on them.
Also you have to add a pic or drawing related to your chapter of the story, if you don't have any you can use the one provided here. Once the ninth person writes the ninth chapter it have to nominate me to write the last chapter. In other words, I will write the first and the last chapter of the story.
The writers can do whatever they want with their part of the story. Whatever their imagination desires, there's no right or wrong in this story. The minimum word count its 100 words. The title must always say: "Let's Make A Story: Cabin In The Woods" and the number of the chapter ej: Let's Make A Story: Cabin In The Woods - Chapter 1. You can name the chapter if you want. And most important: HAVE FUN WHILE CREATING THE STORY!
