Bella was already regretting the headache she had after being dashed against the wall in Laura's desperate movement to get her off her mistress. She didn't regret attacking and breaking that stupid necklace. Didn't the silly woman know anything?!
But that wouldn't be enough, Bella knew. She'd watched enough Supernatural with Josh to know that the evil in that necklace still remained, and was still affecting them.
It was unusual for Bella to regret her tiny size. Being a chihuahua meant that she got lots more snuggles and cuddles than most dogs do. She relished her favorite sleeping spot - behind Laura's knees, under the blankets. She felt like she was in a cozy cave when she was there.
This time, though, being a chihuahua also meant that she had limited means of fixing the situation. Laura and Josh were very careful to keep the oil lamp well and truly out of her reach. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't reach it.
The evil in this place permeated the necklace, it permeated the wood of the cabin itself. It had to burn.
Remembering one of Laura's fears, Bella started barking towards the door. Alternating with growls. "Bear!" she was saying. "Bear!"
Josh grabbed the oil lamp and went towards the door, opening it carefully. He stepped outside and looked around. Bella knew he was looking around carefully, even though he was probably terrified himself.
As Josh came around, Bella leaped into his arms as if for a cuddle, but knocked the lamp to the floor. It shattered and the kerosene splatter little bits of flame all over, hitting some ancient tapestries on one of the walls.
The cabin didn't have a fire extinguisher and the well wasn't very convenient either. After trying several times to extinguish the flames, Josh and Laura had to admit defeat. They ran out of the cabin, and watched with shock as the building grew brighter with flame.
"Damned dog," Josh said. "I can't even call anyone without any coverage. He put his arm around Laura.
"We don't even have any hot dogs," Laura said sarcastically a few minutes later. Bella came whining up to their legs. "Come here, Bella. That wasn't about you, Sweetie," Laura invited picking up the dog.
Bella looked at her mistress' neck and it was as if nothing had ever happened. Not even a scratch where she'd had to claw off that possessed necklace!
They stood a few more minutes, in silence. "Have to make sure it doesn't set the woods on fire," Josh reckoned.
"You know, I hated that place from the moment we stepped foot in there," Laura said. "I don't know what it was - I just didn't feel like myself."
"I know what you mean," Josh said. "Even Bella has been acting strangely."
Laura put her hand to her neck - as if remembering where the necklace had been only half an hour before. She scratched herself with her uneven nails. She brought her hand back down suddenly, looking at her hands in disgust. "Would you look at that? I've broken several nails!"
Bella wagged her tail enthusiastically. She knew her mistress was back. She hoped that the man-that-wasn't-a-man-anymore was gone with the loss of the possessed cabin.
End of chapter 8
I nominate ~ ~ to write Chapter 9. You have 7 days (but let me know if you don't want to - or don't have time this week! - and I will nominate someone else). Here are the rules per
and previous chapter links are below as well.
Its simple, I will post a pic and start a story. Then I will tag a person to continue the story. After that person writes a new chapter it will nominate another person to continue the story. It will continue like that until we reach 10 chapters.
The nominated person have 7 days to come up with a new chapter for the story, if the nominated person don't write a new chapter then I will nominate another person. All the posts related to the story must have the hashtag #makeastory and tag me on them.
Also you have to add a pic or drawing related to your chapter of the story, if you don't have any you can use the one provided here. Once the ninth person writes the ninth chapter it have to nominate me to write the last chapter. In other words, I will write the first and the last chapter of the story.
The writers can do whatever they want with their part of the story. Whatever their imagination desires, there's no right or wrong in this story. The minimum word count its 100 words. The title must always say: "Let's Make A Story: Cabin In The Woods" and the number of the chapter ej: Let's Make A Story: Cabin In The Woods - Chapter 1. You can name the chapter if you want. And most important: HAVE FUN WHILE CREATING THE STORY!
