Nowadays, there is more and more talk about what is happened to the typical "Alpha Male" we used to see
back in the days - Clint Eastwood, Gary Cooper, Al Pacino etc.. Well with the commonality of endocrine disrupting substances
and pesticide-laden foods and antibiotic/hormone grown animals livestock, therein may lie a clue.
Chemicals are everywhere, and are known literally to disrupt the endocrine system, thus referred to as 'Endocrine Disruptors (Eds)'. These EDs are known to decrease, block, overstimulate and pretty much disrupt our hormonal system (endocrine system). All these substance accomplish this by mimicing estrogen, which we all know is good for women buy deleterious for men. They in effect lower our testosterone levels to increasingly dangerous levels, preventing our male hormones from doing their job.
There is an increasing and similar effect seen across the animal planet, which has reported an increase in hermaphrodite amphibians, which are essentially male fish developing eggs in their scrotum (testicles) along with complete sex changes in species with exposure to EDs.
Even the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIH) has documented on this fact several times. It was quoted saying: "Endocrine disruptors are chemicals that may interfere with the body's endocrine system and produce adverse developmental, reproductive, neurological, and immune effects in both humans and wildlife. A wide range of substances, both natural and man-made, are thought to cause endocrine disruption, including pharmaceuticals, dioxin and dioxin-like compounds, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), DDT and other pesticides, and plasticizers such as bisphenol A (BPA). Endorcrine disruptors may be found in many everyday products - including plastic bottles, metal food cans, detergents, flame retardants, food, toys, cosmetics, and pesticides."
In the 20th century we are plagued with these common EDs:
Diethylstilbestrol (DES): Synthetic estrogen.
Phthalates: Anti-androgen, gender bending chemicals that are found in plastic containers. They basically soften the plastic.
Common Drugs: Acetaminophen (commonly known as Motrin), aspirin, statins, birth control pills.
Triclosan: Anti-bacterial and anti-fungal Ed found in soaps and purell.
BPA: In plastics.
Roundup: Pesticide.
There are a plethora of chemicals and EDs out there, to list them all would be insane. However, these are the most common. Below is a list of actions to take to reduce and remove these toxins from your body.
- Read labels and avoid products with ingredients you don't recognize or can't pronounce;
- Filter all water;
- Buy organic;
- Wash hands (make sure these are soaps with ingredients you can pronounce);
- Go fragrance free with everything (soap, no perfumes, house cleaning products etc...);
- Ditch plastic (settle for glass only where possible);
- Avoid painkillers;
- Use stainless steel if opting for any metal (no aluminum etc..);
- Regular dusting and vacuuming and cleaning (vinegar, borax and baking soda to clean home with HEPA filters for air purifying);
- Clean indoor air (again HEPA filters and large leaf houseplants);
- Avoid touching receipts as much as possible and if so wash your hands as soon as possible);
- Exercise regularly and use saunas to induce sweating, which helps detox through the largest organ in your body, your skin.
To your health!!!!!!!!!
