There are three ways of making iced tea. Hot, cold and ambient brewing. Each requiring approximately ten teabags, even different flavors.
Hot brewing - the most common, requires boiling water, pouring it over teabags in a pitcher, then refrigerate until chilled.
Cold brewing - Combine tea with cold water and refrigerate the mixture to desired strength. This method won’t over extract those bitter and astringent compounds (can keep the leaves in jar longer).
Ambient brewing - This method requires neither boiling nor refrigeration. Left out on the counter, the tea steeps in cool room temperature water for around an hour. Think sun tea.
