Berkel - fruity, pineapple tasting strain from The Giving Tree
I had the pleasure of spending the last few days in the Indian Peaks wilderness in Colorado. I spent most of my time hiking which I will share pictures of in another post, but in this post I want to share my review of The Giving Tree dispensary in Denver and the products I purchased there.
Painted on the outside of the building. There is also a liquor store right next door
I wanted to make the most out of my trip and I only had time to stop at one dispensary, so I did a google search for "best Colorado dispensaries". L'eagle, Dank, and The Giving Tree all kept showing up on the lists. I finally chose The Giving Tree because it was #1 on Yelp for Denver Recreational Dispensaries.
By the time I left I had a bag full of goodies - 3 grams, a pre-rolled, bottle of strawberry gummies, and pack of chocolates. I also got this bag that supposedly can be of help to show you are not intoxicated if you get pulled over and it is sealed.
I smelled everything they had available by the gram and chose 3 strains out of the 9, purely by smell. I wanted to buy more but all the others had the chlorophyl smell or just didn't smell like quality cannabis. I was disappointed about that, but I was happy with the strains I chose and the edibles selection gave quite a few options
There was also a selection of concentrates and smoking or vaping rigs but I was on a budget so I did not get try these. The girl that helped me was very friendly and seemed to love her job. The experience was great. I had quite a few questions about everything and wanted to smell everything and she was happy to accommodate me.
All three strains that I purchased were sweet and tasty. The Sour Fire OG was good for smoking during the day, while I was hiking as it was not too strong but was pretty tasty.
The Kurple Fantasy was a little fruitier and definitely a stronger high with a cerebral and body effect that were pleasant but not very energizing and even counterproductive to stamina when doing something like hiking.
Kurple Fantasy
The best strain was definitely the Berkel. It had a super sweet fruity taste like pineapple that was absolutely delicious. The high was a strong euphoric feeling that did not feel energy zapping, but very relaxing.

The pre-rolled did its job for sure, but I was not really impressed with the taste. I wondered if they had used less quality, less attractive buds for the pre-rolled joints, but either way the Chem #4 pre-rolled was strong enough to put me to sleep early.
Please excuse the dirty thumbnail. I was hiking!
Overall, I was glad that I stopped at The Giving Tree. I was happy with all of my purchases. The only comparison I have for now is Botanico, which I stopped at the last time I was in Denver. To be honest, I enjoyed sniffing around a little bit more at Botanico. I also found a strain there that I love - Cheese, and a bit better bud selection. That being said the 2 places really are a toss up. I have heard really good things about L'eagle. I plan to go there, next time I go to Denver.
